Why Does My Top Retainer Fall Out When I Am Sleeping?

I keep waking up with my retainer some where on my bed. I really do not know what it wrong. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but I have a tooth ache that my dentist saw and said should be gone within a few days. He said that tooth was grinding and the gums were irritated. Please help me!!!

That happened to me once. Just push it more at the top of your mouth to make it tighter before you sleep. It could very well be too big though!

Can’t you take your retainer out when you sleep? Your mouth relaxes and that is probably why it falls out. Either that or it is too loose fitting. Or both. See if you can take your retainer out when you sleep. Sorry if I haven’t helped much. You could always try something like Fixodent which is what people use to hold their dentures in. I mean you could try it.

    Good luck from Scanner.

Sounds like your should go back to your dentist. It needs to be tight and not fall out at night.

My guess is: He can fix it, you can’t – so don’t waist time.
