There are various options… Juvenile Detention Center, group homes, foster care, probation, community service, house arrest, drug and / or alcohol treatment, suspension of their driver’s license… Or in some states, they can be prosecuted as an adult in which case they could be sent to prison… It just depends on the crime that was commited, the court system and the state the crime was commited in. Oh, and of course, how good of a lawyer they have!

Options For 16 Year Olds

16 year olds don’t go to jail usually, unless the crime is so horrible that they are prosecuted as an adult.
16 is a juvenile in all states, and they are treated as children, and will likely get probation. If they are really bad they will go to a youth facility.

depends on what the crime is but theres house arrest and community service.

If it were legal, a solid a$$ whipping would cure most especially if they knew they would get another one if they broke the law again- time outs don’t work and neither does “trying to understand” why they did it.
