Banda – urdu word means ‘ an appointed person’ (not simply ‘a person’ or a man’) that is why the word also used to mean ‘male serant’. Female servant= Bandi ( Mughal kings were used to appoint ‘Bandi’ )

If you’re referring to “banda” in this context:

Uss bande ne meri behen ko phul diya.

That guy gave my sister a flower.

In that case, “banda” can be the equivalent of “aadmi” or “vyakti”, man/guy/person.

Generally, “banda” is used for males. (it’s a colloquial term in Hindi)

    Hope this helps! :]
