Ok, so I’m not a freakish runner or anything but I’m planning on being one soon. My first ever track meet I got 2:56, and the one I had earlier today I got 2:48. I want to know if this is a good time. BTW I’m training with Nike + . Any hints/tips for breathing or anything that has to do with the 800m run? Oh and on my 2:56 I got 10th place out of 48 and the winner got 2:32. And on my 2:48 I got 7th out of 18 with the winner getting 2:30 and the 2nd place guy getting 2:38, if that helps. Thanks

last year i was 13 in 8th grade my personal best was 2:28 and that was in the middle of the year. i won 4 out of the five races i was in and came second in the one i did. tips would be when you come to break line when you cross in make it a gradual change in lanes not cut in right away. also a good warm up always helps. to run this and shave a lot of time off is to make your stride longer by doing a lot of stretching even though a lot of people dont see stretching as really improving your time it actually does. another thing that helped me as a distance runner i would always talk to the runners i ran against to see what their times were so i could pin point a person on who i would have a chance of beating. one last thing would be not to really let the other runners to push you to hard because you need a kick at the end. that is pretty much it and i know my last two sentences kind of contradicted each other but its hard to explain.
I already am a runner and some useful tips are too watch Sebastian Coe on youtube or go training. My Personal best for 800M is 2:24.9 and that was when I was 12. Try 1500m You may find that interesting!
2:30 is a good time to aim for, you are close. For breathing 1 breath for 2 steps is a good rule, if you are in good shape, and it helps to train with long distance to build up your strength, then after a few weeks your time will start to improve alot.
if you want to win one of those events, you’ll need a time that stacks up to the winners. 2:30 – 2:35 should get it done.
I’m 14 and I get about 1:25 cuz I really sprint the whole thing. Id recommend you building up more stamina then do some sprints over and over again
