It may or may not leak out very slowly. Depends on the age and condition of the grill. If it did leak it would not be enough to pose a fire or explosion hazard unless someone opened one of the burner controls again.
I certainly wouldn’t make a habit of this, but if you did it once accidently, no real harm done. It’s not like it was a ticking time bomb or anything…
EDIT: That’s correct Mike…That’s what I said! No problem depending on the age and condition of the grill. I’ve seen valves leak around the stems of control valves on old grills. They are designed to be leak free even when turned off, but they are not as positive a seal as turning off the supply valve at the cylinder…
EDIT: If you want to grill today, just light it like normal….Assuming you still have fuel in the tank.
I always turn off the propane BEFORE turning off the burners, so this way any propane in the line will disperse. Just an added safety precaution. And a special “Yay!!!” to the asker, and all the other women who answered the question — love to see chicks that like to grill!!!
sorry Propane Guy
but
the stoves and the hoses are designed to eliminate such problems of leaks with positive lock fittings any leak problem must come after the stoves on -off valve
or you have problems with deteriorating rubber O-rings
Not a thing, unless you have a gas leak somewhere, then you waste propane! That’s all that would likely happen.
If your grill has any kind of a leak all of your gas will leak out. If it is a large leak and there is a spark there could be an explosion.

BOOOOOOOM!!!!! Run home and shut it off!
