    So sad that many people think this is just from Hot Rod. “Legit” is short for legitimate, and it means, the real thing. I’m too legitimate to give up.

    It’s also from the movie Hot Rod.

    “Legit” has become a popular slang term with teens these days and a witty response some people use is “Too legit! Too legit to quit!” in a sarcastic and playful tone.
