It means that we make decisions — both conscious and subconscious — that lead to the end result. Which, it turn, means that we have control over what path we take. The easiest example would be someone who overcomes great adversity — poverty, abuse, disability, etc — to create success and/or happiness because they chose not to let the adversity (chance) hold them back. Right now, there is a movie out called “The Pursuit of Happyness”. Will Smith’s character is an example of a person with this mentality. If you can find someone famous like that — someone who worked hard for what they got — that would be a good basis for a persuasive speech.

I am also writing a persuasive speech on this quote. I came up with a few ideas. This quote shows how you should not gamble with your life. By choosing what you want to do, you will end up with a better future. However, by taking chances, your future may not end up as you would have liked. Try convincing the audience by starting off with a question. Maybe you can base your speech on any personal stories that you have that may relate to this quote. You may also discuss how choosing your future is your choice, however putting your future to chance, can have its ups & downs.

well it’s choice that decides your future lets relate this to monopoly say you go first and land on a space that is $150 you buy it and then you land on a space that’s $300 and you buy it. that’s $450 you wont have later to buy the big properties like park place and boardwalk. so do you want the stuff that you will enjoy now or will benefit you in the long run this is what it really means
