  It was an official Pokemon League Expo hat that Ash sent in a bunch of postcards to win. The green symbol is actually an oddly shaped “L” representing the Pokemon League.

  I always thought the first hat was the Lexus (the car brand) symbol! Seriously, I believe the symbols on both hats mean nothing. Ash won the first hat from a contest (he had to turn in hundreds of entries). The second one, his mother gave it to him.

  In the episode with mankey ash told misty that he sent in a million postcards to win the hat, don’t remember what it meant but it didn’t represent his hometown, that’s for sure
