Well, in the song they signify everlasting love for her father and a sort of ‘goodbye’ to him as her one and only man. Shoot, It’s poetic license not to have to stick with the literal meaning of 18 roses of any color. It wouldn’t have sounded very good if he had said purple or red or blue roses, would it? Gee. Get with it. Loosen up. 🙂
