    Oh I love that song!

Ah! réponds, réponds à ma tendresse,

    Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse,

    Réponds à ma tendresse,

    Réponds à ma tendresse,

    means when translated:

Ah! replies, replies to my kindness,

Pour Me, pour me the drunkenness,

Replies to my kindness, Replies to my kindness,

And of course the song title is:

I Belong to You (Mon cÅ“ur s’ouvre à ta voix)

Mon cÅ“ur s’ouvre à ta voix is a song from the opera, Samson And Delilah. In english, it means “Softly awakes my heart” but more translated, it literally means:

My heart opens itself to your voice

Quite a beautiful thing to say 🙂

“Mon CÅ“ur S ouvre à Ta Voix” actually means “My Heart Opens to Your Voice”.

In the song, he mainly sings two things:

-Réponds à ma tendresse, which means Answer to my Tenderness

    – verse-moi l ivresse , which is meant to mean Fill me with Ecstasy

Fun fact, he s ACTUALLY singing a piece of an opera song made by Maria Callas. The song, ofcourse, is called “Mon CÅ“ur S ouvre à Ta Voix”. Once you read the original content, and feel what the narrator of the song tries to say, it will melt your heart. Finding this out for you tonight has just brought so much more meaning to this Muse song.

    Muse I Belong To You

Ah! Réponds, réponds à ma tendresse

Ah! Answer, answer to my tenderness

    Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse

Pour me, pour me the drunkenness

The rest is the same two sentences repeated over and over. And no, it doesn’t make much sense. By the way, the singer’s pronunciation is awful. You’d think a great band like muse would’ve had someone give them some French advice before recording the song..

    Réponds à ma tendresse

    Réponds à ma tendresse

    Ahhh verse-moi l’ivresse

    Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse

    Réponds à ma tendresse

    Réponds à ma tendresse

    Ahhh verse-moi l’ivresse

    Here is the correct version:

“My Heart Belongs To You / Mon CÅ“ur S’ouvre à Ta Voix”

Otherwise known as I belong to you on Muse tracks.

    Holly:

    Mmmh

When these pillars get pulled down

It will be you who wears the crown

And I’ll owe everything to you

    Woooo, woooo

    Ian:

How much pain has cracked your soul?

How much love would make you whole?

    You’re my guiding lightning strike

    Both:

I can’t find the words to say

    They’re overdue

I’ve traveled half the world to say

    I belong to you

    Woooo, woooo

    Ian:

Then she attacks me like a Leo

    Holly:

When my heart is split like Rio

    Both:

But I assure you my debts are real

I can’t find the words to say

    When I’m confused

I traveled half the world to say

    You are my muse…

    Oooo, woooo

    Ian:

Ahhh! Réponds, réponds à ma tendresse Ah, Tell me, tell me tenderly

    Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse Tell me, tell me, I’m high

Réponds à ma tendresse Answer my tenderness

Réponds à ma tendresse Answer my tenderness

    Ahhh! Verse-moi Ahhh! Tell me

    Ian and Holly:

    Verse-moi, verse-moi l’ivresse Tell me, tell me, I’m high

Réponds à ma tendresse Answer my tenderness

Réponds à ma tendresse Answer my tenderness

Ahhh! Verse-moi l’ivresse Ahhh! Tell me I’m high Ahhh!

    I belong

    I belong to you alone

    Woooo, woooo

    Woooo

I can’t find the words to say

    They’re overdue

I’ve traveled half the world to say

    I belong to you

    Woooo, woooo

Very bad translation… The meaning of “verse-moi l’ivresse” has nothing to do with alcool abuse… Although “ivresse” does mean “drunkenness”, it is not employed here with that meaning in the sentence. A better translation would be: “let me feel the euphoria”
