I was just wondering what the term overruns means? I’ve seen quite a few sellers on e-bay sell branded clothes (in this case Topshop), with the brand snipped off, for much cheaper. They say they are ‘overruns’, what does this mean? Are they genuine?

They can be genuine.
Sometimes a manufacturer will produce more of a product than their stores or outlets have room to sell. This is called a manufacturing overrun.
Because it costs money to store goods (have to pay for warehouses, etc), manufacturers will then sell the overrun at reduced cost to get rid of them. However, they don’t want to undercut their own stores, so they’ll disfigure them in some way, such as snip off the label.

They produced more than the Final Order required to allow for production rejects and were not needed in that role. Could also be order adjusted before delivery and run was already made up.
The fact that companies do have overruns and sell them at a discount in no way guarantees all the garments as genuine just because you have been told they are overruns. Done not guarantee they are Fakes either. Look at the Quality and then make your judgment and pay the price

The seller is implying that the factory produced more than the number that were required by Topshop, hence over run.
Hard to say if they are genuine or not, it used to be that if labels were “snipped” it meant that the item was a second, ( A faulty item, not fit to send to the client )
Buyer beware ( Caveat Emptor ) Hope this helps P

Good question! Much of American society actually doesn’t even understand what true “prepiness” is. Most people think that it means that you wear abercrombie, hollister, etc. (popular surfer clothing) but, in fact, preps are people raised in high society who have attended the best schools possible, etc. These people wear Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Burberry, etc. 🙂
