    i just read that poem.

in the very beginning of the poem it says that Natasha was gone for three days and no one knew where she was, and that when she came back, she was too distressed to speak. then later a young man rides by while she and her sisters are sitting on a fence. Natasha runs home because she recognized him, but yet again she does not tell her parents. the next day the matchmaker of the town said that the young man wants Natasha to marry him, and her father consents. Natasha goes into a fit of hysterics, but finally controls herself and agrees to the marriage. at the wedding feast, the groom notices that Natasha is not enjoying the feast and not talking, and he asks her why. she tells him that she had a dream, and then proceeds to explain to him the contents of the dream. she was wandering through the woods when she sees a house. she knocks at the door, but there is no answer, so she lets herself in. the house is filled with all kinds of treasures and jewels. she hears horses and people approaching so she hides behind the stove. a group of men enter, bringing with them a girl, who is obviously the new bride of one of them. they have a grand feast, but the girl sits silently. finally, the oldest of the brothers kills the girl and cuts off her right hand. at this point in Natasha’s story, the groom stops her and says the story is ridiculous. Natasha then asks him from who’s hand did the ring on her own finger come. this implies that the dream was not really a dream, and that this is where Natasha was when she was missing those three days. the groom was there, and he was the one who killed the girl. the groom is speechless and the guests at the wedding realize what Natasha is saying. they sieze the groom and condemn him to death. Natasha is a hero.

In bad Englsih (the rest of her dream):

Bridegroom: What bad is about your dream?

    It is about revelry.

    Bride:

    It is not over yet.

    I hear jingles and clinking

Sumptuous feast is on the way

    The girl is only sad

    The girl is sitting silent

    Not eating, Not drinking,

    The tears are falling down.

The big brother takes his knife

And makes it sharp while whistling

Looks at the girl and then took her plait

    The evildoer kills the girl

    and cut her right hand

    Bridegroom:

Oh, this is just a fable.

But don’t worry, trust me beauty

She is looking at his face

“From whose the hand this ring is?”

    Suddenly bride said

    And all stand up.

The ring is rolling on the floor

The bridegroom is shaking and blanching with terror

    The guests are embarrassed.

    The judgment is

    “Hold this villain”

The villain is bound and exposed

    And soon he is executed

    Natasha became famous and

This is the end of the song.

    Присвистывая точит;

    Глядит на девицу-красу,

    И вдруг хватает за косу,

    Злодей девицу губит,

    Ей праву руку рубит.

    «Ну это, — говорит жених, —

    Прямая небылица!

    304

Но не тужи, твой сон не лих,

    Поверь, душа-девица».

    Она глядит ему в лицо.

    «А это с чьей руки кольцо?» —

    Вдруг молвила невеста,

    И все привстали с места.

    Кольцо катится и звенит,

    Жених дрожит, бледнея;

    Смутились гости. — Суд гласит:

    «Держи, вязать злодея!»

    Злодей окован, обличен

    И скоро смертию казнен.

    Прославилась Наташа!

    И вся тут песня наша.

Basically a young girl who goes missing for 3 days and comes back with shocking news. She then proceeds to get forced into an arranged marriage to the guy in her “dreams.” This is the same guy she is afraid of. Then she tells her parents to hold a feast as a celebration for the engagement. During the feast she tells everyone her dream. Then they find out her bridegroom was a murderer and she becomes famous.
