So another website I use was offering free credits if I signed up to the 7 day free trial on videostripe.com. To do this it asked for credit card details, but said if cancelled within the 7 days you wouldn’t be charged. So I did this and then once I received my free credits I cancelled me account. However I then came across a website called http://www.scamadviser.com/ and decided to check out videostripe. In the comments about it many people are saying that they have been charged the $50 even after cancelling their account.
So, how should I go about stopping my card being charged at the end of the 7 day free trial, because even though I cancelled I don’t trust them not to charge me and I definitely don’t want to pay $50 for something I won’t and can’t afford to use.
Can I call my bank and ask them to cancel the charges? Would cancelling my debit card stop them from being able to charge me? I’ve heard of this not working and companies being able to find ways around this and charge your new card too? My debit card expires in a few months anyway so I don’t mind having to get a new one, I just really don’t want to risk being charged $50 for this. I realise I shouldn’t have signed up in the first place but too late for that now

If they charge you, you just have to show the bank the email you sent them to cancel your account and where you state that as per their Terms you are cancelling your subscription before the 7 day trial period ends.

Get proof of writing for cancellation, cancel your DIRECT DEBIT if you have one, cancel your debit card, forward the letter to your bank.
Canceling a debit card won’t always work but you can have your bank blacklist them
have your proof that you cancelled,, such as the confirmation email. the bank will handle it with your proof.
debit card cancelling will not help,,, pre-authorized charges will still go through and you have to pay
