ok whilst it’s very not ideal to wash your cat with human soap what you need to do it rinse her till the smell fades, if there is lethargy, drooling, you see her third eyelid, she looses all interest in food then take her to vet ASAP, if she is still damp from her wash and is simply doing a desperate preening ritual as my cat does after i give her a bath then that perfectly normal, i use a specially formulated cat shampoo that i brought from my local pet barn store.

my advice is to put her back in the bath and just run the warm water over her all the way from the neck down, never get water into a cats ears or face.

a cats ear canals are very deep and if water get inside it’s very difficult to get it out again so the ear canal stays damp and is a breeding ground for fungal and bacterial infections.

If you rinsed her thoroughly and she is only licking herself dry, don’t panic.

If you did not rinse her well, do that right now. Rinse all the way to the skin.

Soap is not terribly toxic but if she ingests a lot of it she could get sick to her stomach with vomiting and diarrhea.

If you are still worried call the vet now.

And in the future do not wash your cat except if she has gotten into something toxic. Cats do a good job of keeping themselves clean and soaps, detergents, and shampoos can dry out their skin.

No no no no no! Under no circumstances wash your cat with human soap. Though it may not have any dye or fragrance it still contains chemicals which can irritate and dry your cats sensitive skin! This can cause dandruff flakes, discomfort, itching, and in some extreme cases, loss of fur in the affected area. Just because your cat got wet doesn’t mean he needs a bath, either! Cats are extremely clean animals, he will clean himself. If you really feel as if you MUST wash your cat, do so with warm water and BABY SHAMPOO that has no fragrance and no dye. By the way – they sell cat shampoos at grocery stores, so if you have one near you its probably not too late to go out and get some.

Did you rinse her off well? I don’t think it will kill her if you did. I would suggest rinsing her off well right away, even if you did. My guess is she’ll get diarrhea and might throw up, but I can’t see it killing her… Make sure she has TONS of water at all times, and keep a close eye on her. If she seems to be very ill ( like, laying there, panting heavily, or if you see any blood in her puke/poop ) take her to the vet ASAP!

she proably will be okay check her skin to see if she has any allergic reaction such as welts, rashes, bumps, anything that looks unusual. then check her breathing she if she is labored or shallow breathng. basically just check to see if anything is unusual. if not an everything is okay and shes just cleaning helself like crazy take her back to the bath tub and soak her in cold water and that should take away some of the sting. if this persist take her to a vet or if any other unusual signs pop up

If you didn’t rinse her well enough she could get a little sick from the soap. She should be fine, just watch out for diarrhea and vomiting. If you rinsed her well there shouldn’t be any problem.

Just rinse her properly…if she doesnt like use a cotton ball…

NEVER do it again u DONT need to wash cats they r not dogs…they clean themself.

If she ever has dirt paws just wet a towel and wipe her down

she should be fine, although next time try to get the proper shampoo. dove is meant to be mild anyway, so let her clean herself…cats keep themselves clean anyway. if she is not acting herself , then you should see a vet.
