  Just write it like the basketball were alive, like “The ball’s quiet voice made a swooshing sound when it went through the hoop and felt the cotton net pass it by. Then it let out a slapping sound with its tongue when it hit the court.

  Personification is giving non-living things human characteristics. “The basketball weaved and jumped as it screamed throught the air….” Alliteration is the repetition of the consonants in the syllables that are stressed.
