i really wanted to know who did that song, so i looked it up and found that it was zz top, but it turns out it was by war, so why is there so much confusion about zz top doing it? did they do a cover?

The only cover I’m familiar with was done by Blues Traveler.
There seems to be a mistake that comes from the world of the internet: Maybe because the singer from War has such a low, scratchy voice some people mistake it for Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top?
From Wikipedia:
Many P2P networks credit the War version of the track to ZZ Top, but the band has never recorded a version of the song.
It was originally done by war. It’s very confused as by ZZ Top because of mistyped/miswritten labels and such. Many people also call it the “George Lopez Theme Song” as they don’t know what it is, and it’s the theme song for George Lopez. Anyways War wrote it first.
Low Rider is by War.
Lowrider War
my favorite singer Eric Burdon and War

The “cover” performance of “Lowrider” used in the “Gone in 60 Seconds” was performed by ZZ Top for the soundtrack, but the song was originally created and is credited to War.
Absolutely – it is Eric Burden and War. Whoever said ZZ Top has it mislabeled. This is VERY common on Limewire and other file sharing apps. People have crap mislabeled all the time.
War, it was originally done by War
ZZ Top.
