We have had this question before today. I think you like a lot of people have heard someone say that they know someone that found their famiy tree on line. Not everyone’s family tree is online and if you do find your family in some of the trees, there are most likely errors in them. Most of the information is not documented. Even if you see the same information over and over by different submitters, a lot of copying is being done. That is poor quality family history. I believe some people are just anxious to add people to their database. The best thing is to go to your public library and find out what genealogical resources they have. They might have a subscription to Ancestry.Com that you can utilize. Ancestry.Com has lot of records and is obtaining more all the time. They have U. S. censuses through 1930. The 1940 is not available to the public yet. Also call your nearest Mormon Church. Ask them if they have a Family History Center and if so the hours they are open to the general public. If so they have records on people, not just Mormons, all over the world. They are very helpful and you will not have one of their missionaries come by and ring your doorbell because you used their services. They will not bring up religion while you are there. When you use your library and the Family History Center, you will be in contact with people who can give you a lot of good ideas and hints on how to trace your family history. Another question we get on this board is the origin and meaning of names. That is not important at all. The same name can come from many different nationalities and places. Not everyone with the same surname shares the same common ancestor who was the root of their surname. Variations in spelling of a name is not too important. You might not be related at all to someone who spells their name just like you do but might definitely be related to someone who spells the name entirely different.
I was looking through a lot of job searching sites. One I especially enjoyed is hound. It shows a lot of unadvertised jobs from employer’s web sites. I find it easy to use, easy to find jobs close to my area, jobs that aren’t usually found on the other sites. If you have a second I say go for it. it will give you some details of some jobs out there on the market.
