I went during the Winter to Great Lakes. I would recommend Winter instead of Summer just because I came from Florida and it was always hot as heck down here and I got tired of that weather.

I love the cold too. To me it would seem smarter to go during the Winter to avoid possible heat-related accidents and exhaustion as well as dehydration. And because there is snow, you won’t get prolonged to the outside environment as much and it gives you less opportunities to be “trained / punished” physically 😀

It depends were you go. There are 5 basic training sites. The winter sucks in all 5 sites. However, the summer is very humid in all sites! I went to Ft. Jackson both winter and summer. The best month to go is Sept.

Depends where you go, and what kind of weather you’re used to. Ft Leonard Wood is hot as Hades during the summer, and cold as space in the winter. September and October really are the best months to go. It’ll be hot the first few weeks, but it starts cooling off in October.

if you mean physically i would say summer…but it depends on what branch of the military you are going into….my husband is in the airforce and his BT was in San Antonio and he went in May and it was hot as hell….but i think it depends on the location of your basic training…
