In the Bible, what does cf. and cf.1 stand for/mean?

    It’s not a biblical term, it’s a literary one.

    It means “confer,” which in Latin means “compare.”

    So if it says “Jesus Himself told us not to judge, cf. Mat 7:1” that means they want you to go look at Mat 7:1 to compare it to their premise that judging is something Jesus said not to do.

    It’s like a reference term.

    cf. would mean another reference for the same topic.
