I got a rent.com $100 reward card, but my landlord is fighting it?

I found my apt. on Rent.com and they have a deal that you get $100 reward for it, in the form of a gift card. So I get a call from my landlord last month asking me if I reported my lease on Rent.com, and he said I never told him I found it there. But I know I did tell him.

Hes mad because he has to pay a $300and something fee to Rent.com for their services and since I found an apt. So he told me that if I receive the card I need to throw it away and he is going to tell them I didn’t find it on Rent.com and it was a mistake, so that he doesn’t have to pay the fee.

But normally I would fight it and cash the reward no matter what. Only problem is I have cats and a bunny which I am not supposed to have in my apt. and he could get mean about it if I made him mad.

So if I cash the reward card do you think theres any way he would find out? Or how would that work? I really want it 🙂 But I don’t want to stir up any trouble either.
