How mcuh should I charge for buckeyes (candy, not nuts or OH residents)?

I made some buckeyes last week and took some to work to share. A few people have asked how much I would charge for a dozen. I’m clueless! I know how much it cost to buy the ingredients and it took me 4 hours to make them, but I don’t know how many I made. Should I make another batch and count them so I know how much it cost per piece?

oh you too are having this issue. I make goodies to share and then people want to know how much and want to buy them. I used to try to price them about $5 a dozen and then i realized with my time and effort plus the ingredients i wasnt making any more. I then got a swiss colony book in the mail and a mrs. fields cookie book in the mail and they gave me some insight on how much to charge. Of course I’m not going to charge 1.50 per peice of candy, but 75 cents each is a good price. People will pay more for home made items that are of good quality. I make chocolate covered strawberries and was charging $6 a dozen and then i realized that I wasnt charging anywhere near enough. I went up to $12 a dozen and have had no complaints.

Considering your time and ingredients..I would say about $4 a dozen would not be unreasonable. If they were to go somewhere else to buy them, it could cost more.
