How do I dispose of spoiled milk?

I opened up the fridge a couple days ago to discover a bad odor. It was the milk! I dont know what to do with it. DO i pour it down the drain? Do I throw it away container and all? Both seem illogical. What do I do? I dont want to live with this smell any longer.

Flush it, rinse the container, close it, toss it, take out the trash. Cut a lemon and put it in the fridge. 🙂

Yes you can pour it down the drain just make sure you pour in one cup of White Vinegar after you have discarded the sour milk this will help clean the drain and freshen it and you won’t have the sour milk smell to deal with, when you have left the vinegar in the drain for a few hours you can then wash it down with hot or boiling water Good Luck !

I’ve had to deal with that.

As bad as you describe, you would probably want to seal the container tightly, put it in the garbage can, then tie that bag shut tightly and carry it to the outside garbage can- or straight to the dump.

Afterwards, you’ll want to put baking soda in the fridge to absorb the odor.

    Good luck!

DO NOT pour sour milk down the sink. One litre of full cream milk has enough fat in it to cover the surface of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. –

Your city has or should have sites where you can take it and they will dispose of it safely. If you pour it down your sink your going to back up you pipes because that it will stick to it.

I always dispose of milk and creamer by dumping it down the toilet (whether its spoiled or not) simply because the smell of dairy products souring can really stink up the sink and kitchen.

So that’s my long answer to your short question…put it down the toilet and flush. Clean the toilet afterwards if there’s any lingering odor.

    Best of luck to you!

Throw it away in the container. No reason to smell it

well if you aren’t going to eat it, dump it into the toilet. along with about half a box of arm and hammer baking soda. depending on how much milk you let spoil.
