Thirteen “13” – Common patch worn by “Outlaw” bikers. Can have several meanings. The most common held meaning is it’s being the 13th letter of the alphabet “M” and stands for Marijuana or Meth. It’s also known to stand for the original or “Mother” chapter of an M/C. In the last few years, many places are saying the “M” stands for Motorcycle.

The Diamond patch with “1%” or “13” worn with the 3pc back patch signifies the club is a 1% or 1% support club.

69–signifies performing oral sex with a partner, at the same time. Some motorcycle clubs even have patches signifying different oral performances, such as red wings, if the woman was on her period, black wings if the woman was black, etc.

The Diamond 13 originates in the 1930s as an anti AMA patch. The early outlaw clubs used it to show they have nothing to do with AMA clubs. The AMA tried to take over the racing and club scene with rules and regulations. A lot of clubs didn t like that.

The Southern California Outlaw Federation awarded a trophy to the top 13 outlaw clubs, and outlaw here means, racing not under AMA rules. That all, nothing criminal or illegal involved. The AMA just called any clubs not sanctioned by it outlaw clubs at the time.

In the 60s when the 1%er movement started, the 13 on this patch was changed to a 1% but the the diamond shape was kept because it already stood for an anti AMA movement.

When new clubs emerged they basically copied the symbols of older clubs often without knowing the true meaning and just use what they think it meant. Today many clubs use a 13 or an M and give it all kind of meanings. Ask 10 bikers of the same club and you get 10 different answers. And civilians even make up more crazy ****.

But the above is where the 13 actually comes from and what it means….

And the 69, even though a sexual position, has nothing to do with sex either…

Not sure of the 13 meaning for I have heard many, however, from the mouth of a Red and White member (Hell’s Angle) the 1% was originally given when and meant some one killed another for the sake and “good” of the club and members.

The person killed may have been a snitch, a plant, a rival member, even a cop or undercover officer.

The 1% was taken over by most of the wanna-be’s as meaning they were part of society that is bad, the 1%…

The 69 is and means what we all think of 69. A he and a she having oral sex together with one on top and the other on bottom. Sometimes a prerequisite with a high ranking members, the Prez.. if a lady wanted to join the group and be a ‘house mouse’. Often done in the “club house”, in front of everyone there, then often passed around, from top ranking ‘officers’ first to bottom soldiers..

I am a 1%er and the 13 as far as i know and was told to me has many meanings. it is mother, meth, motorcycles, or just that a 13 the bad luck number. the 69 is sex of course.. and now the way its been told some one asked how your day was it was said some good some bad…. well 13/69 covers both ends… as far as 1% goes… well thanks to time magazine the term was coined back in 1947 when the Boozefighters mc rode into Hollister cal. for a 4th of july weekend party… they had fun and didnt cause any real problems but time magazine coined them the lost the unwanted the 1% of the world. now a days 1% means non conformist. We are a privileged few who have earned the right to wear that patch. this weeds out the idiots yuppies and RUBS (rich urban bikers) so dont wear that patch if you didnt earn it or you may pay dearly! and someone may test your mettle

In East London in 1959 a Church of England priest opened a coffee bar for young lads with motorbikes . Ten years later he moved parish and started another club . These were the 59's and 69's ! This is the origin of these patches ! You would be a pensioner now if you had the original patches . You would know high beach and don a ton up the Epping new road !

13-69 . He’s a 13-69 means he’s an unlucky cock sucker. kinda like he’s an ID ten T. an IDIOT. It’s military slang carried over into the biker community.
