    31.

    Let the smaller number be x. Then the larger is x + 8.

    So x + (x + 8) = 70, i.e. 2x = 70 – 8 = 62, i.e. x = 31.

    The answer is 31. 31 plust 8 is 39 so 31 plus 39 is 70.

    thats simple! if 35+35 is 70 then you take 4 off one and add 4 to the other you get 31+39 which has 8 difference and adds to 70
