I was pulling the pull tab on a can of Wal-mart Ole Roy dog food. As soon as the tab broke the seal, the lid ruptured/exploded and threw the lid off of the can and into the palm of my hand with great force? The food in the can then “bubbled” for about 15 minutes.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone explain this? If so, has customer service been of any asistance? It’s been 2 days and I have had no response. I still have the can and food.
The cans were store inside at room temperature. The other 5 cans in the box were fine.

The food was probably infected with some sort of bacteria or yeast that produced gaseous byproducts. I’ve heard stories of exploding maple syrup bottles due to yeast contamination. As the gas builds up, the pressure inside the cantainer increases, and then blows up if given the chance. Contact the customer service people. They might not be much help, but at least you will have tried. Also, I’ve heard that Old Roy is pretty much the worst (unhealthy, etc.) food you can feed your dog (just a thought).
I have known this to happen before. It was with a cat food tin. But seems as though you got of lightly. The person that opened this tin described it like a bomb going off. The can flew out of ger hand and the contents expoded all over the kitchen walls. Her cat is petrified of meal times now. She did report it but only got an apology a few vouchers of cat food but no expanation to why it happened. My guess is that the food was giving of some kind of gas (mabe the food was going off) and as soon as the air hit the thing exploded. Thats all i can think it could be.
i circulate by using a ton of diapers real now- being a mom of a 19 month previous and a 7 month previous. I relatively have in basic terms had that happen to a minimum of one Pamper. i take advantage of the Cruisers however. not sure what type you have. yet- i think of I pulled too annoying. Pampers are the only one that did no longer leak for me. yet, if the others artwork for you opt for it! i might call Pampers and *****. a chum advised me that Pampers from Walmart are different than Pampers from objective- so as that they are able to grant greater effectual pricing. in case you look at them the colour is lighter- perhaps they have not got the comparable high quality?
Never happened to me, but this may be why they say Ole Roy is crap.
And I don’t think you should trust the other cans in the box. If that one can was like that, the others may be soon to follow.
contact the maker on the label.
That means it was very bad, they would like to know Im sure incase there are more cans like that.
Sounds like botulism or something like it.
you may have botulism in that can..dont feed it or get it on you…contact walmart
