Dying a Horse’s mane and tail pink?

Ok, so in fall I will be participating in a breast cancer ride. I want to dye my horse’s mane and tail pink, just for support. BUT I NEED it to be safe for her. Where could I find dye that is safe for horses, and which product should I use? Thanks!

Update:

My horse has a flaxen mane and tail. I was also thinking bows if the dye doesnt turn out. BUT there are pictures of last year’s ride and there are some horses with pink mane and tails. But thanks, I am just checking out my options for now 🙂

Update 2:

Nope, I’m in MB! But have fun in your FL ride!

I wouldn’t use dye..There are sprays at walmart you can buy for human hair around Halloween time that wash out and they have a hot pink.

edit: If your horse has a light colored mane you can use red Koolaid (red b/c it turns pink on hair) and will wash out in about a week..completely safe for your horse.

Yeah use that. They sell stuff at sally”s attractiveness supply that vegtable dye. I dye my buckskin horse blue or pink sometimes at halloween. Your horse is white so the crimson could look cool. I used to groom canines and did tints all the time on white canines. it truly is not any huge deal. Pooh Pooh to all the people that could write a foul answer.Have some relaxing.Your merely doing the mane and tail.

Some people take offense to dying animals hair. There was a woman in Boulder, CO that dyed her dog’s hair pink for breast cancer, however she was then arrested for animal abuse. Stupid, I know, but you never know what kind of morons are going to try to get you in trouble.

An alternative I was thinking about was either braiding pink ribbons into her mane and tail or putting big pink bows in it.

If the horse has a white mane, beet juice would work (it’s what they use to dye the celebs poodles pink) it takes a while to come out afterwards, but its totally natural and absolutely harmless.

that will be super cute! I know at some tack shops they sell paint for horses and it comes in ALL different colors, its litterally paint for horses you put some on your finger and paint away, also they have mane and tail glitter that comes in pink so that could be an option.

My yard owners sister used to dye her ponies mane and tail all sorts off color’s and I think it was the stuff that people use for their own hair but nothing permanent and if you don’t want to use that you might have to search on-line because I don’t know if tack shops sell that type o stuff.have fun! x ****EDIT**** I found a site called www.raraequus.com looks good.

I saw this on tv so I dont know if it washes out quickly but it is safe. Mix food coloring and water in a spray bottle and spray on area you want to color. Always start with just a little to make sure there is no reaction 🙂
