Hey,
Im looking into changing my manual 1997 chevy s10 pickup truck into to an automatic transmission. I haven’t done something like this before, but i have multiple family members and friends very experienced with cars. What kind of parts do i need to make the conversion? I have found some here http://www.partstrain.com/store/details/Chevrolet/… Would this be all that i need or is there more? The engine is a six cylinder 4.3L and i eventually might put a suspension lift on it. Also is there anywhere i can find roll bars for this truck? The kind that sticks out of the bed preferably with lights on the top.
I put a link in the initial description. The reason i want to put an automatic in is because the manual i have now its very clunky and i dislike it to say the least.

you will need the following:
ECU from donor truck where you got the transmission
transmission.
radiator
transmission lines
drive shaft
new torque converter.
either the steering column and all the shifter linkage or an aftermarket shifter

As douglas said x2. realize that automatic transmissions use a use up a lot of HP. I would say go with a 350 conversion and add power instead of robbing it. You can but complete comversion kits for them and make it painless to do. and may i recommend painless brand wring while yer at it…Get yourself a 350 doner and a TPI set up with all the harness and top end off ebay, and you can have a nice little monster fuel injected truck. Or you can stuck with a carb and still show off the tail lights.

Just buy a truck with an automatic. A lot easier, and you know it works.
