Cat sitting in the rain – Why?

I just found my cat of about 14 years sitting on the shed roof, when to put it bluntly it was pissing down with rain. Ive never known her to like water at all.

She had obviously been sleeping up there, but to be honest the way she was sitting you would think that it was a sunny day outside. I called her name but she look pretty unresponsive, and looked at the wrong window i was calling from.

Ive brought her in, she was dripping wet and tried to get away form me towelling her down, now shes just sitting there washing herself.

Why would she do that?

My cat did this at 14 too and it turned out she had cancer of the throat but she looked like the rain wasn’t even happening and looked at me blankly when i called her,

in my experience when cats are in pain or not feeling well they do this odd thing and sit in the rain,

so its best to get her checked out to be on the safe side.

My cat does the same, he’s 10! Sometimes, no matter how much I call him in, he’s just happy sat in the pathway leading up to our house. Even in the snow and freezing cold weather, he will not move. I have actually many a time gone out and “rescued” him, but not sure he’s ever particularly grateful.

Cats are crazy! My cat hates water probably because my sis and I gave her a bath once. Now that really was crazy. She’s a stray we started feeding and was a mess. We could hardly get her into the bath tub but once she was wet she got really calm and let me wash her. Then when I picked her up she went wild and scratched up my arm and ran away and hid soaking wet! Now if I turn on water in any sink when she’s around she runs away.

Look at her age! Cats do strange things as they get older I’m afraid. You need to monitor her progress closely just in case there is something wrong with her. My dear Sam did some strange things when he was old. He would sit on my lap and howl like a Banshee. There was nothing psychically wrong with him he was just getting old. He also used to like getting into the shower with me and just sit there until I got out.

Like I said just keep an eye on your lovely cat.

It’s possible she’s not feeling well. Cats who are ill tend not to want to move much, even in uncomfortable situations. Keep an eye on her and if she shows any more suspect behavior such as appetite loss or lethargy, get her in to a vet.

Such a change in behavior is often a sign of a medical condition. I strongly urge you to take her to the vet for a checkup.

Don,t want to alarm you but my cat did something similar. when i took her to the vets ,she,d had a stroke. she,s 16.doesn,t mean your,s has.but have her checked out anyway.by the way mine was 14 when she had the stroke but she,s 16 and still going strong. she still bites but what the hell i still love her to bits.

Probably plotting your inevitable demise with a scratch to your face after pooping in her litter tray. As we all know all cats are truly evil, and they regularly have hidden agendas on their mind. Next time you should leave her be, if hypothermia doesn’t get her then maybe old age will.

    Happy holidays, y’all.

Cats will do this if they have a fever.
