Can a destroyed SIM card be traced?

Can a destroyed SIM card be traced if i damage it and throw it away? cos im going to experiment with a low cost sim card to see what happens.

    If you completely destroy a modern SIM card, it is unlikely that it is traceable. Plus, the SIM card relies on your phone for the ability to transmit data, so unless it is some futuristic traceable SIM card, you cannot be traced.

    No, of course it can’t.

    The mobile phone itself can be traced because the network can figure out the time it takes for your signal to arrive at different parts of the network and so it can work out your position moment by moment but the SIM itself is basically just a clever chunk of computer memory.
