Well, dear, put on some clear nailpolish, if you have real bad nails to put colored nail polish on. This will curb your nail-biting. Nail biting they say, has deep rooted reasons. I dont believe them. But, its very obvious that we bite our nails, when we are doing nothing with our hands; generally while thinking or when we are just lazing around. If you are a student or work in front of a PC, you will get plenty of such oppurtunities. Its necessary that you prime yourself to constantly think of having great fingernails when you meet your guy. Cultivate a habit of looking at people’s hands and your own too. This will give you enough motivation to stay off nailbiting. Also, keep some nuts(the edible ones) handy. They are nutritious and every time you want to bite off your nail, bite into a nut. Other things like candy can be harmful in excess, hence nuts are better. And to help you, I will say this, and I mean it too, bad nails are a REAL BIG TURNOFF!!!!!
I propose a toast to your good unbitten nails. Cheers! And, Amen!

The worst of all germs are under our fingernails and cannot be removed even with thorough washing. Small children get pin worms very often because they bite their nails under which they picked a few pinworm eggs while playing outside. You have no idea what’s lurking underneath. My suggestion – keep it short at all times. Just saves you a lot of trouble.

Drugstores sell polish that tastes really nasty when put in contact with your mouth. It is usually advertised as “Stop Bite” or something like that. The use of this should keep you from biting long enough for them to grow out fairly nice.

There is a nail polish that you can buy so when you go to bite your fingernails they taste horrible. I can’t remember what it is called but it does exist.

Alexei is right. I know a guy that uses a very bad tasting clear polish on his nails because he bites them a lot (wonder where he got it).
But I didn’t realize how awful it tasted until I used it on my nails. I tend to lick my food off my finger nails when I eat sometimes. Sometimes I forget I have the polish on, and when I lick my food…. I scream for help. It taste like bad chemicals like hydroxide peroxide mixed with sulphur. It’s horrible.

I’ve been biting my nails forever and NOTHING can stop it. I’ve tried everything. The only time I remember my own nails grew was when I put acrylic nails and kept filling them. Then I took off the fake ones and put acrylic over my own nails.. didnt last long. Now I just put acrylic and try to forget about them (that way i wont remember to bite them!)

This sounds really gross, but imagine what could possibly be lurking under your nails that could make you sick. Not everything is washed away with simple handwashing. The probability of it is slim perhaps, but you could do that as a mental deterrent. Or, if all else fails, get fake ones…they’re easier to maintain, pretty to look at, and they’re all long at the same time!!!!

I soaked my finger tips in rubbing alcohol and then rinsed them off. The taste stays for several hours, but can’t hurt you.
Now I have to cut my nails every week because they get too long, but I don’t bite them anymore.

A lot of will power that is the only thing..everytime you start to bite you nails think of your boyfriend and showing them to him…it could work.

Paint your fingers with really bad-tasting nailpolish. That way, whenever you bite on your fingernails it tastes really bad. It worked for me!
